Daxton has been asking me all day about monsters. He wants to know where they live. I've been trying to tell him that monsters aren't real. He doesn't understand the difference between real and pretend yet. So I told him that monsters live in monster jail like on the movie 'Monters vs. Aliens'. He seemed to be satisfied by that answer. In my previous post I talked about how Dylan as a bit of an attitude. Sometimes I call her a little monster. I must have called her a little monster today because while I was in the kitchen cleaning up after lunch I heard Daxton tell Dylan to go in the closet and get her pet shop animals. Next I heard the closet door close and Dax come running in the kitchen to tell me that the monster was locked up in jail! It was sooo funny! I've also been trying to teach him not to say naughty words. One day him and his cousin, Carson, kept saying things were stupid. I kept reminding them that was a naughty word and they couldn't say it. Later John and I were talking and refering to something as stupid. Daxton totally picked up on it and told me not to say that funny word! He was saying funny instead of naughty. There's nothing like an almost 3 year old to keep you in line!

You wouldn't believe the attitude that is hidden behind this adorable little face! My sweet Dylan is turning into a little bully! She hits and grunts all the time. First she would just do it to me when I wanted her to do something she didn't want to like take a nap or get her diaper changed. Now she is doing it to other kids. There was a small baby, probably 6 or 8 months old, sitting behind us at church and Dylan was grunting at her and hitting her for no reason. I need to figure out how to teach her to be nice and kind or she'll end up with no friends. I didn't imagine her having such an attitude until she was older, but it's here!

What a fun 4th of July!! It started with our annual Maylin family breakfast at the park. Been doing it for as long as I can remember. Then we took Daxton to see Monsters vs Aliens. He cried within the first 30 min because the girl who turns into Ginormica get locked up in jail and she's crying. Poor kid, he's soo sensitive. But before he cried he was yelling cause when she was turning into Ginormica she burst through the church she was in and Dax screamed,"her is breaking the temple!" over and over! Then we ended the day at the fireworks in Kaysville. I love fireworks. Daxton does too, however, Dylan wasn't the least bit interested! The 4th of July is definately my favorite Holiday!

I cannot handle when my kids are sick. Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for them. But, it's so frustrating to me when there is nothing I can do to help them feel better! Poor Dylan has spent the last 3 nights awake and screaming. I thought she was just teething and have been giving her motrin, but after 2 & 1/2 hours of screaming last night I took her to the doctor this morning. It's an ear infection. I got amoxicillin, but the doctor said it'll still be a day or so till she starts feeling better. When she's screaming for hours at a time in the middle of the night all I can think is, "I'm soooo not having anymore kids!"

Daxton and Carson are going to a summer day camp this week. Some girls in our ward are putting it on. It was so fun to take them there this morning. He insisted on taking his backpack and thought he was going to pre-school. He loved it, and it was nice for me to have a 3 hour break from him and Carson this morning.

I remember when Dax was younger and he was growing and learning new things and it was all happening so fast. But with Dylan it seems like it's all happening much faster. I can't believe she's already 14 months old! It's sooo sad, she's not my little baby anymore. She's so stinking cute though. She loves to wrestle with Daxton. She love animals, mostly dogs and ducks. She knows how to bark and quack. She does the cutest little dance. She loves to read books, play outside....mostly she likes to do anything but hold still. She is always on the go. I need to get her off the bottle but it's the only time she'll let me hold her so I'm putting it off. Although I miss her being a small baby, I can't wait for her to keep growing and learning new things. It's sooo fun when they learn to talk and you can have little conversations with them.
Daxton says the funniest things! I seriously laugh at him all day. He has started talking back to me, it's so funny I can't even get mad at him. Like today I told him he needed to eat his lunch and he says; "no mom, why don't you eat your lunch!" Or I'll tell him to wipe his nose and he'll say; "no mom, you wipe your nose!"
He started deciding he needs things. Like one day last week he was playing with his Geo Trax Train and decided he needed a new part and said, "mom you need to take me to Walmart so I can get a new train." I just look at him and think, 'you are 2 and you are already telling me what I need to buy you and when.' He's also been telling me I need to buy him Spider Man make-up. I have no idea what he is talking about.
I always make sure John has his wallet when we leave the house because he's been known to forget it. Daxton has picked up on this and we went to Kohls the other day and as soon as we got there Dax said, "daddy, you remember your wallet." Soooo funny!!
Sometimes I think it would be awesome to be a kid again. To have no worry in the world, play when you want, eat when you want, and make a sad little face and get whatever you want!
